Dr. Miao has 20 years research and management experience in drug discovery and development in the biopharmaceutical industry through several companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley (Tularik, Amgen, and ChemoCentryx). Through his career, he has played an active role in advancing over ten innovative drug candidates to various stages of clinical development for the treatment of diverse diseases such as cancer, immune disorders and metabolic disorders.

 

Additionally, he has also held leadership positions with several non-profit scientific organizations such as the Chinese American BioPharmaceutical Society (as President 2009-2010 and a current board member) and Pharmaceutical & BioScience Society (PBSS) International (as President and founder). PBSS International (also known as CACO-PBSS in California) has over 4000 members in some of the largest life-science clusters such as the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Boston and Vancouver.

 

Dr. Miao holds a PHD degree in chemistry from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) and a BSC degree in chemistry from Ocean University of China (Qingdao, China).
